Summation Formulae for the Legendre Polynomials

In this paper, summation formulae for the 2-variable Legendre polynomials in terms of certain multi-variable special polynomials are derived. Several summation formulae for the classical Legendre polynomials are also obtained as applications. Further, Hermite-Legendre polynomials are introduced and summation formulae for these polynomials are also established.

Generalized Hermite Polynomials 1

The new method for obtaining a variety of extensions of Hermite polynomials is given. As a first example a family of orthogonal polynomial systems which includes the generalized Hermite polynomials is considered. Apparently, either these polynomials satisfy the differential equation of the second order obtained in this work or there is no differential equation of a finite order for these polyno...

Rodrigues-type formulae for Hermite and Laguerre polynomials

In this paper we give new proofs of some elementary properties of the Hermite and Laguerre orthogonal polynomials. We establish Rodriguestype formulae and other properties of these special functions, using suitable operators defined on the Lie algebra of endomorphisms to the vector space of infinitely many differentiable functions.

Polylogarithms, Hyperfunctions and Generalized Lipschitz Summation Formulae

A generalization of the classical Lipschitz summation formula is proposed. It involves new polylogarithmic rational functions constructed via the Fourier expansion of certain sequences of Bernoulli– type polynomials. Related families of one–dimensional hyperfunctions are also constructed.

Asymptotic analysis of generalized Hermite polynomials

We analyze the polynomials H n(x) considered by Gould and Hopper, which generalize the classical Hermite polynomials. We present the main properties of H n(x) and derive asymptotic approximations for large values of n from their differential-difference equation, using a discrete ray method. We give numerical examples showing the accuracy of our formulas.
